Thankful Thursday

I’m back linking up this week with these lovely ladies for Thankful Thursday.

This week, the top three things and moments that I’m most thankful for are …

1. … email. As a daughter who has talked on the phone with her mom every single day since she left for college at 18, you can imagine how difficult it is when her parents decide to go on a 10-day Mediterranean cruise to Greece. And, guess what? Their cellphones don’t work over there! In all seriousness, I’m so happy that my parents are having a great time on this once-in-a-lifetime trip, and I obviously would not be calling her while she’s on vacation. However, I am grateful that they have Internet on the ship so we’ve been able to email each other at least once a day. I have been sending her updates on the important things, you know, like if the Chicago Blackhawks won their game, who won Dancing with the Stars, and so on.

2. … 80-degree weather. Mother Nature finally has decided to send some gorgeous weather our way in the Midwest. I forgot how much I enjoy taking a midday break to sit outside and read for fun, whether that be my favorite magazine or a book. Oh, and when Real Simple Magazine replies to your tweet about said midday break, it just makes it that much better.

3. … green smoothies. I can’t believe it took me this long to jump on the green smoothie bandwagon. I am almost at my one-week mark of making a green smoothie every morning for breakfast, and I honestly haven’t felt this great (physically) since our wedding and honeymoon. They keep me full until lunchtime, I feel much more energized throughout the day, and I actually am happy when I look in the mirror. Plus, I think it’s helping my skin – that’s always a bonus. I’m thinking of posting some of my green smoothie recipes soon – is that something you guys would like? Let me know in the comments!

What have you been thankful for this week?

I totally know what you mean about not being able to talk to your mom – she just came back from a 10 day trip to Paris and while I love my dad dearly – the conversations weren't as fun lol!!! Enjoy all the wonderful weather!!

  • I think it's so sweet you and your mother stay in touch daily! And girl, I am loving the warmer weather. It's about dang time!

  • My parents went to Alaska two summers ago and they had spotty cell phone service, and you're so right it's so weird when you're used to talking to your mom every day! Glad you can still connect via email! A Mediterranean cruise sounds amazing! I would love some green smoothie recipes! I always do the same one (vanilla almond milk, spinach, strawberries, and banana) but I haven't been loving it as much lately.

  • Karly, I'd love your green smoothie recipes, I've been wanting to give it a try but haven't jumped on the band wagon yet.

YES on the recipes, I love me some green smoothies! I am loving the warmer weather here too 🙂

  • YAY for the warmer weather! Finally!!! And I say yes to the recipes! I'm still needing to jump on that bandwagon and it would be great to hear what a "green smoothie beginner" has been making! I'm assuming you watched the Blackhawks game last night.. what happened there?!

  • I recently started with the green smoothies too and I'm loving it, share those recipes!

  • I would do love to see your green smoothie recipes!! I really want to start trying them but it would be so much better to go off something someone already likes!!

  • Great! I will share a few of my recipes in an upcoming Tuesday post when I usually share food recipes … they are so simple, yet so effective! And, yes – we watched the game last night. I don't know what happened to the Hawks. They choked!

  • You got it! I'll try to get a post up in the next couple weeks. 🙂

  • Sounds good! I will try to get a post up in the next couple weeks.

  • I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one late to the party!

  • Yes! I definitely think we are kindred spirits. 🙂

  • Ha ha, it's so true! It's better when you use blueberries because then the smoothie is purple instead of green. 🙂

I am thankful for email too this week! It's been hard not to pick up the phone and call. Please post your green smoothie recipes, I'm really going to need it after this trip! Be home soon!

  • I definitely agree with the fine weather – I live in Ireland and day in, day out, we are inundated with rain! Some warmer weather would certainly be much appreciated here too! Such a lovely idea to give thanks for things we often take for granted – I am definitely going to hop on board of this!

  • LOL I hear ya, girl about talking to dad on the phone!

  • Thank you! Most people think it's ridiculous how often we talk, but I can't imagine it any other way. And yes, it is about time the weather got nice!

  • I'll try to share a few of my recipes in a couple weeks! I pretty much follow the same routine every morning, but I just swap out what type of fruit I use. I may try one one of these days with almond milk – right now I just use water so it's not as creamy of a texture.
