Only Pick One – Lips

Rise and shine, all – it’s Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend.

Today I’m bringing you the third installment of the Only Pick One series, and we are going to be chatting about all things lips. If you’re new here or to this series, these are the products that I would choose if I absolutely only could pick one from each category. In other words, these are my holy grail, can’t-live-without makeup products. Be sure to check out the other posts from this series.

Face // Eyes

So, back to lip products, which happen to be my favorite beauty product to discuss. I never used to be much of a lips girl, but in recent years I’ve discovered the beauty of how a simple swipe of lipstick or pigmented lipgloss can change your entire look. Now I can’t even imagine leaving the house without some sort of color on my lips.

Lip Exfoliate // Fresh Sugar Lip Polish
I’ve only used a few lip exfoliates in my time, but this one takes the cake. You may think it’s a bit pricey for the size of the jar, but this little jar has lasted me a long time – like, this is the only jar I’ve ever owned. It’s not too harsh on my lips, and it leaves them feeling soft and smooth.
This probably doesn’t come as a surprise to many of you as I almost always include these in my monthly favorites. NYX really hit the mark with these glosses – they are the epitome of a classic gloss, but they also provide a surprising amount of pigment and shine. These are my go-to when I just want to swipe something on my lips as I’m headed out the door.
Liquid lipstick // Revlon ColorBurst Lip Gloss
Okay, so this is technically another lip gloss, but I consider this line of products to be more of a liquid lipstick. The color payoff and staying power is fantastic, and the shade selection is impressive for a heavier, thicker gloss. I’ve worn these on numerous occasions with nothing else on my lips and have received compliments from people on my “lipstick.” Just be cautious to not put too much on otherwise it could look gooey.
Lipstick // Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Paradise
Again, this probably is not a shocking revelation to many of you – this is hands down my all-time favorite lipstick. If Rimmel ever decides to discontinue this shade, I will buy out the entire stock at every local store just so I always have it on-hand. It is the perfect darker-toned neutral, and it goes with anything at any time of year. As I’ve mentioned before, I wore this on my wedding day and I thought it looked beautiful in photos. It also held up extremely well (despite all the kissing!).
Have you figured out yet that I kind of have a thing for Rimmel lip products? If you are a newbie to lip liners, these are the ones for you. They are retractable, so you don’t have to worry about sharpening a pencil, and the formula is creamy with a matte finish, which makes it nearly impossible to mess up. They also are ridiculously affordable, so it’s easy to buy different colors to match all those lipsticks in your drawer. I’ve even worn these liners on their own by just filling in my lips with it and then topping it off with a clear gloss – they have a great wear time.
Although I pretty much will use any lip balm that is laying around, Nivea’s balms are my “splurge” when I actually run out of lip balms. (Do we ever actually use a whole tube of lip balm, or do we just lose them and start a new one?) I love the way this particular formula makes my lips feel – smooth, hydrated and the hint of mint gives my lips a tingly feeling. Not to mention, it helps freshen up my breath!

As I read "Rise and Shine" I thought…oh god I don't think I'm ready yet LOL!! I'm a huge fan of NYX products, just love the pigmentation of the colors!!! My favorite lipsticks to wear are MAC – their staying power just amazes me…but recently it's all about Bite Beauty's Lip Crayon- best one I've used in, ever!!! Great round-up!!

I can't live without a good lip balm. Unfortunately I'm allergic to a lot of them so my choices are really limited but I always have at least 3 with me! And I love a good bright lip so these are all gorgeous color choices!

  • It's freezing here today, I so don't want to rise and shine. Just kidding haha. I always see that NYX gloss and want to try it, but I've been waiting for someone to review it. So thank you for sharing your thoughts on it. I love the extra creamy round lipstick too. I would list that as one of my favorites along with the NARS Audacious, and Aquafor for lip balm. I hope that you had a good weekend too! 🙂

I love those Nivea lip balms, too – only one I use! I also like the Revlon lip butters, a nice cross between a gloss and lipstick – you might like them too! I may have to try a Rimmel lipstick sometime!

  • Isn't that the truth? Those lip balms, they are always disappearing! I'm going to have to give these Rimmel lip products a try, I don't think I've ever used any Rimmel lip stuff before.

  • Becky M

That sugar lip polish sounds amazing!! I need to try that asap! That Nivea has always been a fav of mine.

  • I'm still searching for the perfect fall/winter lip color! I haven't tried that version of the Nyx gloss so I'll be on the lookout for it the next time I'm at the store!

  • Jessi Otey

Yes to all of these ma'am! (I'm a chapstick freak too- have to have one stashed everywhere at all times) ps- so happy to be paired with you for the swap and happy to be your newest follower (on like every social media- totally just stalked you) Happy Monday pretty girl! xoxo

  • I am so guilty of buying tons of lip balms and never finishing them! I'm really trying to force myself to keep track of the ones I have now and not succumb to the temptation to always try out the newest formula. I have yet to find my perfect balm though!

  • Mia- MakeMeUpMia

You're the 2nd person to rave about that lip polish, so I want to try for sure! And I will be looking out for that chapstick for sure 🙂

  • Revlon has the best lipsticks!

  • Bite Beauty's formula for their lip products is ah-mazing! I'm glad you're enjoying the lip crayons. 🙂 I love MAC lipsticks, too!

  • You're allergic to lip balms?! You poor thing! At least you still have a few that work for you. 🙂

  • I swear by those NYX glosses, so I think you would enjoy 'em! At the price point, you really can't go wrong. I've heard great things about NARS lipsticks, so maybe one of these days I'll splurge and treat myself to one.

  • I have a couple Revlon lip butters that I love, too! I think you'd like Rimmel lip products – I enjoy them!

  • I feel like Rimmel is such an underrated drugstore brand – I've been nothing but thrilled with anything I've ever tried from them.

  • You would love the lip polish – it's worth the splurge!

  • Let me know if you try out the glosses – I think you'd love them!

  • I'm so happy to meet you/be paired with you too, Jessi! I totally social media-stalked you as well, so I'm looking forward to getting to know much about you in the next couple weeks. 🙂 Happy Monday, dear! xo

  • Have you ever tried the Nivea balms? They have several different flavors, and they hold up extremely well. They really hydrate your lips and leave them soft and smooth!

  • You can't go wrong with Nivea lip balm – it's the best, regardless of the flavor or scent that you get. The Milk & Honey formula is another favorite of mine. 🙂

  • I love this series! I need to try some Rimmel lip products– I actually don't think I've ever tried anything from Rimmel other than a powder a few years ago.

  • Hahahahahah I never finish anything just lose/misplace/don't use that purse for a little while all my lip products. You know my holy grail is that YSL lip stain it is amazing!!!! I want to snag one of those nivea ones!

  • I have one that is called Aqua something and it's such a thin formula that it almost immediately disappears. It's one of the only chapsticks I've almost completely finished because I have to reapply so often haha. I should give another formula a try but I'm not sure how many we have to choose from here – what have been your top 3 favourites?
