I was lovin’ on some new products throughout the past month, as well as reincorporating a few items back into my daily routine that were otherwise stashed in the back of my vanity drawers.
Real Techniques Blush Brush // It’s a good thing that this brush lived up to my expectations – after searching for it for months, I finally snagged the last one at Kohl’s of all places! Regardless, this brush is soft, fluffy and applies product like a dream. My blush has never blended into my skin so seamlessly.
IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette // It’s been quite the love affair between I and this palette recently. For someone who wears almost exclusively matte eyeshadows on a daily basis, it’s great to have a matte-only palette that still offers a variety of shades. The pink and taupe shades have been getting the most use (surprise, surprise), but I look forward to a special night out in the near future where maybe I can incorporate one of the darker shades.
MAC Satin Lipstick in Viva Glam II // An oldie but a goodie, this lipstick was a rediscovered favorite of mine this month. It falls into the perfect nude lip category, but it has an ever so-slight pinkish, mauve undertone that keeps your lips from looking completely washed out. My only complaint about this lipstick is that the formula is rather heavy, which can cause my lips to feel goopy if too much is applied and get dried out during the day – applying a hydrating lip balm before putting on this lipstick helps remedy both these issues.
L’Oreal Nail Lacquer in 700 Aux Chandelles // If you remember from my recent drugstore haul, this perfect-gray polish shade sucked me in at one of the displays. I’ve worn this almost exclusively since I purchased it (see my other favorite nail polish shade below), and L’Oreal continues to impress me with the formula and staying-power of their polishes.
O.P.I. Nail Laquer in Mimosas for the Mr. and Mrs. // Thanks to Ashley, I may have found my new favorite light pink nail polish. The color can be worn year round and goes with nearly anything. It does take a few coats to get an opaque finish, so don’t be discouraged if the application starts off streaky.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup // Another tried and true favorite in my collection – I can’t believe there was a point in time where I hated this stuff – this foundation has been essential for me and my dry skin. When used with a primer and setting powder, the staying power keeps me fresh until late afternoon without accentuating any dry spots or causing my skin to look oily. This is one of those secret gems of the drugstore – I can’t recommend it enough.
Maybelline Master Conceal Camouflaging Concealer // I only purchased this product a couple weeks ago, but it’s now my go-to concealer for blemishes and dark spots. The formula is thick but still creamy and non-drying, and it’s very easy to blend the product into bare skin or on top of foundation so it’s undetectable. I also find the color range to be spot on, most having a yellow or neutral undertone – I wear Light/Medium for reference.
