What’s On My Nightstand?

It seems that everybody has a different take on what should and shouldn’t be readily available on a nightstand, as well as what decor pieces to put on display without making it appear cluttered. Since clutter stresses me out, I like to keep the top of my nightstand relatively open with the exception of a few nighttime beauty products and decor pieces.

As far as beauty products go, a thick, moisturizing hand cream and a good lip balm must be within arm’s reach at all times. An abundance of reading material – whether it be on my iPad or books in my reading queue – and my glasses always are present on my nightstand because before bed is when I do a majority of my leisure reading. Plus, if the book has a pretty cover, it doubles as decor! Lastly, my Kate Spade polka dotted ring holder is used as a catchall for any loose items, and a pretty candle and our wedding portrait play a constant to keep the overall look grounded. Like how dusty and dog hair-covered my wedding frame is?

Lucky for me, my nightstand basically can double as a dresser since it has three drawers, so it’s easy for me to swap out items and store away books, candles, etc., when I’m ready for a change.

What are your must-have items for your nightstand?

Your nightstand seriously puts mine to shame haha! It's so neat and organized and cute! Mine isn't really cluttered or anything, it's just not pretty haha!

I'm with Pamela, mine is so boring!! I need to add a pretty candle to mine but I always have a lotion nearby so I can put it on my hands before bed!! Love the photo of you and your hubby! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston

Your nightstand is adorable – mine is always such a mess, haha! I need lots of magazines and books, plus a big glass of water each night.

  • I'm with you, clutter stresses me out too! Right now water is a necessity on my night stand, because I keep waking up SO thirsty!

  • The Girl on the Train – can't wait to read that one! We have tiny nightstands so they really only hold a lamp and clock, I wish we could fit bigger ones into our room! And of course I must have lotion and Carmex within reach at all times 🙂

  • I am totally with you! Hand cream and lip balm are my two go to products! Plus my iPhone……it's always within arms reach 😉

  • We have two nightstands. The only things that I keep on my nightstand are a julep cup with flowers from our wedding and there is a lamp there. Speaking of weddings, your picture still looks great, and I think that I have the same frame but in 8×10. 🙂

Our nightstands are pretty similar! A small clock and a box of Kleenex for middle of the night sniffles are the only other things I need. I think a little dust is inevitable!

  • Our nightstands have exactly the same items on them minus the lip balm because my great dane likes to eat it! I can't tell you how many chap-sticks I have gone through! I despise clutter too so I am always shifting or rearranging to make things look more…put together.

glasses and lip balm and an air purifier (random) are on mine!

  • Lol knowing you, I highly doubt that. 🙂 I'm just fortunate that ours are pretty big, so I can store a lot inside it!

  • Thanks, girl! Yes, lotion is a must on the nightstand.

  • I usually have my water bottle on my nightstand, too, but it didn't look pretty for the photographs. 🙂

  • I can only imagine!

  • I'm just getting started with it, but so far so good! Lotion and any type of lip balm is a necessity on the nightstand at all times. I've been known to wake up in the middle of the night just needing some lip balm!

  • Haha, right?! What in the world did we ever do before our iPhones?

  • Ryan has the same nightstand as me, too, but his isn't nearly as organized and clutter-free as mine (no matter how hard I try!). How fun that you have a little memento from your wedding on yours.

  • I think with allergy season approaching, I may need to keep a small box of tissues on my nightstand, too!

  • Oh no! It never occurred to me that dogs would like lip balm … luckily, Finn hasn't shown any interest. 🙂

  • Yes! We have an air purifier in our room, too – definitely helps with all the dog hair and dust.

  • Glasses, lip balm, book, and my mouth-guard case (I grind my teeth at night). I love your wedding picture! So beautiful!

My nightstand has carmex. That's basically it right now! Isn't that awful?

  • My nightstand is a disaster! I'm dying to get new bedroom lamps and pretty it up in there. We have these ugly lamps that my husband picked out before we were dating and he likes them. Sigh. haha. Love all your pretty little details on yours though!

  • Those Target candles smell so good! I like a clean and simple nightstand too. Save the clutter for my office 😉

  • Yes they are seriously the same flowers 4.5 years later. All dried up though lol.

  • You are so sweet, thank you! Girl, I have a mouth-guard, too! I grind my teeth like crazy according to my dentist.

  • Hey, it's all about life's necessities.

  • Oh, that's so smart to have a bucket as a catchall for remotes, chargers, etc. I may have to steal that idea!

  • Lol, oh no! I guess I'm fortunate that Ryan kind of just goes with the flow when it comes to decor. 🙂

  • Exactly! And, you can't beat those Target candles – they're everywhere in our house.

  • Michael usually does too, but for some reason he doesn't want to give up those ugly lamps!

  • I repurposed one that originally came with some Easter chocolate inside haha – a few layers of white and gold spray paint and it's been a great piece of functional and basically free "decor"!

  • My bedside lamp broke a few weeks ago so my nightstand is always a mess because I'm throwing stuff on it in the dark at night haha. I always keep lip balm, hand cream, glasses and a little bucket of all my remotes on mine!
