Disney World Part 3 | The Princess Parade (Our Last Day)

Get ready for the third and final installment of our Disney World vacation! If you need to get caught up, you first can check out part 1 and part 2.

Since we already had been to all the parks and it was our last day of vacation, Ryan and I really wanted to do everything this day on our own schedule. We allowed ourselves to sleep in a bit, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and get ready and head out when we felt ready.

A second trip to Magic Kingdom ended up being on the itinerary – there were a couple rides that we still hadn’t done, and I wanted to do some souvenir shopping for family (and myself, duh). This also was the day before my birthday, so I was keeping my fingers crossed that I could meet a few of the princesses/more characters … and thanks to my husband, I did!

But, first things first – we just had to go on It’s a Small World. Ryan couldn’t remember if he ever went on it when he first was there as a kid, and even though it’s really old and really ridiculous, I insisted that it was a right of passage for any Disney-goer. I’m not sure if Ryan would agree with me now that he’s experienced this ride’s glory, but it did give us a good laugh.

Once I remembered how convenient the side braid was, my hair was like that the remainder of the trip.
Then, lucky for us by some miracle, we were able to score FastPass + reservations to meet Ana and Elsa. We had been checking all week with no luck, and the standby line always was a minimum of 75-90 minutes. Knowing what I know now after meeting them – they hardly spend any time with you, and it’s not the most personalized experience – I’m sure as heck glad we didn’t waste all that standby time, but it was 100% worth it since we were able to walk right in. Hence, we now begin what Ryan so aptly named The Princess Parade.
Ana gave us a rundown of Kristoff’s sleigh, complete with a holder for her hot chocolate!
No joke, Ryan actually was excited to meet Ana in a non-creepy way. He’s a big fan of Frozen (sorry, your secret’s out, Ry!)
Look at that smile on my face! Ryan is dying of embarrassment at this point.
While Elsa and I discussed how Olaf was enjoying the Florida weather, Ryan conveniently ducked out of the picture.

Once we got out of there, it was time to eat … however, I spotted Cinderella’s ugly stepsisters across the way and since I had never even seen them out before, I convinced Ryan to stand in line (again) to meet them. Halfway through that line, it was announced that they were leaving and Fairy Godmother would be out shortly – even better! The blow to Ryan’s ego was lessened when we befriended the nicest couple from Canada, and we carried on a great conversation while we patiently waited.

Fairy Godmother gives the best hugs, people. No joke.

When she asked what my name was, she quickly corrected me. “No, no, no my dear. It’s Princess Karly.” I, then appropriately responded, “Oh, well you need to tell my husband that!” So, she had Ryan come over and engaged us both in the conversation. She was the cutest lady I’d ever seen/met.
Ryan, did you hear that? I’M A PRINCESS!

After stop #2 on the Princess Parade, we finally did eat and walked around the park for a bit. Like I said earlier, it was a lot less stressful this day since we already had done most of what we wanted – we were able to enjoy everything around us and also not get so easily annoyed by all the people!

For the final stop of the Princess Parade, I was beside myself with excitement that my favorite-ever princess, Sleeping Beauty, was out. I had met her once at Disneyland and the last time I was at Disney World with my parents, but this one in particular was extra special. She literally looked like she had been plucked out of the cartoon, and I think I was just feeling nostalgic since it was my birthday. I was complete nerves when it was my turn to see her!

Seriously, are you guys convinced yet how big of a nerd I am?! This is Ryan’s favorite picture from the entire trip.
I really wasn’t expecting her to hold my hands and walk with me the way she did with the younger kids, so I think that’s part of what took me off guard. I could barely even talk to her, I was so embarrassed!

And then, she asked if we could hug. That about did me in – I was like um, of course!
I now show everybody this picture and say she’s my sister.

Before she let me go, she said that we had to promise to be lifelong best friends. My response? “Oh my gosh, I sure hope so!” Seriously, I behaved like such a little baby. I almost was in tears when I walked away because I was so happy and excited. #yesim27

Ryan was such a good sport about all this – I appreciated so much that he humored me and let me have my moment and fun with the princesses. He even held my purse and stood to the side to take pictures. He’s even the first to admit that these are some of his favorite memories because of how excited and happy I was – I chose a winner, I tell you!

The edited version of this is on Instagram, but I
wanted to show how much air I got on this jump. I didn’t even know I
could jump that high, ha!

We weren’t done with the characters quite yet … our final meet and greet of the day was with Winnie the Pooh and friends! We had seen him and Tigger out earlier in the week, but since Rabbit was out with them this day, too, we figured we had to take advantage.
Ryan got Tigger to hop with him – it was so cute!
By this time, we were starting to get a little tired and knew we had to leave the park at a reasonable hour since we still had to pack. We did have a FastPass + reservation to meet Ariel, but since I already had dragged Ryan enough with that during the day, we instead hopped onto the Buzz Lightyear ride again and took a final spin on Space Mountain.
Our night pictures from our first go-around at Magic Kingdom didn’t turn out so well, so I was glad that we made it until nightfall so I could get some new ones.

Tink was there to bid us farewell!

We headed back to Chicago the next day, where we celebrated my 27th birthday with nothing else but a funfetti cake.
Yes, that’s second-day hair and the same sweatshirt I wore the day before. No better way to celebrate your birthday than in day-old clothes.
Thanks for sticking with me through all these recaps! It has been so fun to go through all the photos and relive our vacation with all of you. It was the best trip that we’ve ever taken, and we can’t wait to repeat it someday!

What a fun post today! Those pictures of you and Sleeping Beauty are just priceless, the two of you look like sisters! Ryan is the best for being such a good sport, but I think he was having a bit of fun with all the characters, too. It’s been fun sharing all this with you!

    • Thanks, lady! I’m sad that I’m finished with my recaps – it’s how I was keeping the vacation alive, lol. πŸ™‚

  • ahhhh i love this so so so so much. you and aurora definitely look like sisters! you know i feel the same about meeting the princesses and all that jazz, so i’m right there with you. i don’t care what anyone else says, you’re allowed to be a kid at disney.
ps. teach me how to side braid.

    • Preach, girlfriend. You and I are 100% on the same page with all things Disney. Side note – know how I learned to side braid however many years ago? YouTube. I sat on the floor of my bedroom at my parent’s house with my laptop in front of the mirror and paused the video after each step so I could recreate it on my own hair. Dedication right there. πŸ™‚

      • i mean, i have tried, and i have made it look kind of halfway not awful, but definitely not cute. i need to try again.

  • Small World is a must do no matter how cheesy it is! And now I have that song stuck in my head πŸ˜‰ SO GLAD you guys had an awesome trip!! The best place to spend your birthday!

  • Love how many characters you met, and that Ryan loves Frozen! I mean who doesn’t love Olaf?! Loving your side braid, such a lifesaver for beach and theme park days <3

  • You look so cute in all these pictures! You and sleeping beauty do look like sisters!! My sister and I had so much fun trying to meet as many of the princesses as possible while at Magic Kingdom. I was totally fan-girling when I met Princess Jasmine, she was so sweet and I felt speechless talking to her!

    • You are so sweet, thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one that fan girls over the princesses – it’s just so fun!

  • Aw so many great photos! I love going to Disney World too and I totally nerd out with meeting the characters as well. it’s just so fun to be a kid again πŸ™‚

  • Emily Dunham

I want to go to Disney SO BAD right now! Love your sweatshirt and just your whole outfit – perfect for a day at the park. You do look so very happy!

    • Trust me, I want to go back, too and we were just there – ha! I had to buy that sweatshirt the night before because the temps ended up cooling off, so we were pretty chilly in short sleeves and shorts!

  • That’s 100% true love, when your husband goes on the Princess Parade with you! I dragged my husband and in laws to all the princesses when we were there last time, and I think that they actually enjoyed it! I was seriously almost crying when we met Belle for the first time too! There’s just something about meeting your favorite princess growing up in real life!

    • I agree with you – it’s just as magical as an adult as it is as a kid! And, my husband had an absolute blast with this regardless of what he says. πŸ˜‰
