My Favorite Daddy and Me Photo

With Father’s Day coming up this weekend, I’ve been feeling nostalgic and going through pictures of my dad and me throughout the years. I think it’s so fun to go through old photos to remember and reminisce about what was going on at that time – that’s why photos always will stand the test of time because you can’t erase the memories that accompany them. I, unfortunately, don’t have a lot of photos of just my dad and me while I was growing up, so I really cherish the ones that I do have. And, that leads us into today’s post – my favorite daddy and me photo.

My Favorite Daddy and Me Photo

It’s a real doozy, isn’t it?! I was too young to even remember this outing, but I’ve been told the story enough times over the years that I can remember this like it was yesterday.

There was a local circus in town (way before I realized how much I hate the circus and refuse to ever go to one again), and supposedly, I kept complaining about how bad it smelled – not surprised by this whatsoever. So, my dad being my dad, busted out his handy bandana that he carried around as a handkerchief (pretty sure he still does that to this day!) and let me hold it up over my nose for the rest of the day. What can I say? I was high maintenance and wasn’t down with the horrible smells of the circus. But look at the smile on my dad’s face – you can just tell how much of a kick he was getting out of it and me. I sure was good for entertainment in those days.

Also, can we please quickly admire my sassy red nails? #divachild

This always has been one of my favorite photos, and it never fails to give me a good laugh whenever I come across it. In many ways, it sums up some of my favorite parts of my relationship with my dad – we like to goof off and make a scene in public, but my dad always looks out for me, even now as a married woman. I know that I always will be his little girl and that he’ll do anything and everything to make sure I’m taken care of and settled.

I might have mentioned this before, but my dad reads each and every one of my posts, but he never comments because he doesn’t want to look sketchy to the rest of you – he’s a smart thinker like that. So, I want to take this opportunity to quickly say Daddy, I love you! I’m so thankful that I got you as my male role model growing up. Thank you for allowing me to be me and for teaching me not to settle or compromise my beliefs and opinions for anyone. Because of you, I’m confident in my own skin and am able to live a life that I’m proud of.

What’s your favorite childhood photo? How do you plan to celebrate Father’s Day?

I have a few favorites of me and my dad when I was growing up. One of the main ones that sticks out is when I was riding on the carousel, and my dad is standing next to me, making sure I don’t fall off, and we both have the best smiles! Love the story behind yours, and your sassy red nails! haha
