Airbrush Makeup in a Can | Luminess Air AirSupremacy Tutorial

As much as I love my at-home airbrush system, it can be a slight inconvenience to pack for travel. As compact as it is, I would just rather have one product that I can throw in my makeup bag that gives the same results – you know? That’s why I’m excited to partner again with Luminess Air to bring you a tutorial for what is my favorite product of theirs yet – the Luminess Air AirSupremacy Airbrush Foundation.

Airbrush makeup in a can?! Heck yes! Just like all Luminess Air products, this foundation is paraben, fragrance and oil-free – ideal for sensitive skin – and it offers the same buildable, breathable coverage as regular airbrush makeup. Plus, the sleek compact can design makes it ideal for when you’re on-the-go.

If you’re intimated by traditional airbrush systems, then this product is for you. It is ridiculously easy to use – practically foolproof. Let me walk you through the steps.

For the sake of this tutorial, I already applied my eye makeup and a primer all over my face. Just like with any airbrush foundation, primer is essential to ensure the longevity of the makeup. Before you use the foundation, be sure to shake the can for a good five to 10 seconds. You even can give it a little side eye like I’m doing in this picture. 😉

When you’re ready for application, hold the can about 6 to 8 inches from your face and simply press down the nozzle in short bursts. You don’t want to hold down the nozzle for a continuous spray – this will distribute WAY too much makeup.

Continue to move the can around your face while applying the makeup in shorts bursts. After you’ve finished the first layer, let it dry for a minute or two. If you want more coverage, just repeat the same application process! And, don’t worry if the makeup splatters – take the application sponge and pat out the foundation for more even coverage.

I went ahead and finished applying the rest of my face makeup – concealer, setting powder and lips – before moving onto blush! I like a bit more control with airbrush blush, so I opted to use the sponge for application. Start with one or two bursts of product on the sponge, and tap into your skin where you normally apply blush. Repeat this process until you have the look that you want.

I always love the end-result after an airbrush makeup application. It’s not obvious that you are even wearing makeup. Your skin just looks naturally healthy and radiant!

  • I’m a 30 year old makeup fail. I seriously have no clue what I’m doing! I have a tan, freckles that I love and a complete inability to even guess where to start. Any recommendations?! I’d love to try something like this, but I don’t even know how!

    • You are too cute! I love that you love your freckles – you definitely don’t have to cover them up with makeup! If you’re looking for foundation, start at the drugstore – their products rival some of the higher end stuff these days. Neutrogena Healthy Skin is a great option since it’s lightweight and pretty sheer coverage. Oh, and YouTube videos are wonderful – that’s basically how I learned to apply makeup!

  • LOVE that this is in a can so it’s nice and portable! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  • You always do the best tutorials! I love how this looks on the skin– and the little brush is such a cool idea.

    • Thank you!! I know, the brush is a nice option if you’re not totally comfortable with just spraying the product on.

  • What a fun option! You’re right. I bet this would be perfect for travel. It looks so great on you too!

  • I used to to use Dior Airflash bronzer. It was insanely expensive but I was obsessed with it. It was then discontinued and I bought like 5 of them……and they are still sitting in my cabinet. I definitely want to check this out, it looks beautiful on you!

  • Christina Sotherden

How fun! I love that it works for travel – I’m always looking for smaller items because I feel like so many of mine are big and bulky if going away.

    • I agree with you! This is great to just throw in your makeup bag. And, you don’t have to worry about the bottle breaking, etc.

  • Emily Dunham

This is so neat! Love the idea of it in a can – so portable!

  • Your skin really does look naturally freshened! These products sound awesome, and super easy to use! Always love your pictures in these types of posts!

  • soooo what i really want to know is if i use this, will i look like you? because you are just so gorgeous! for reals though, this looks way simpler than the legit airbrush stuff, and looks amazing on you (again that’s probably because you’re so pretty!).

    • Oh my goodness, stop it! You are too sweet! But yes, this stuff is way easier to use than the traditional airbrush system. I’ll just add it to my arsenal of beauty supplies that I have to pack when I come visit you. 🙂
