Fall Date Night

Happy Monday! I don’t know about you, but I already am thoroughly enjoying that extra hour of sleep. In case you missed it last week, the Chicago Cubs won the World Series! Hooray! But, that meant a lot of late nights. I’m sad that it’s all over, but I also am secretly glad to get back to a normal routine. Wait, normal? Us? Yeah, right. I wish! With Thanksgiving hosting duties only a few short weeks away, the pressure is on to get the house in tip-top shape. House work and projects are the center of our lives right now – it’s pretty much nonstop all day, everyday. But, as a reward, we did allow ourselves to head out for a fall date night this weekend.

A schedule of constant house work doesn’t leave a lot of room for me to properly dress everyday let alone do my hair and makeup. So, a night out with Ryan – even if it just means a nice dinner at one of our favorite local spots – is an opportunity I jump at to make myself feel like a normal human-being.

With the weather back in the mid-60s, getting dressed for a fall date night is still pretty easy. I don’t even need a jacket! A lightweight knit top, such as this mock turtleneck tunic, and a pair of boots are all I need to keep myself comfortably warm. This pair of camel-colored skinnies has been hanging in my closet for more than a year, and I can only remember wearing them one other time. Why? Who knows. I decided to give them some love for our night out, and I actually love the black and camel combination. To me, it says fall without being overdone.

I also like to switch out my everyday purse for something easier and smaller for nights out. I typically only carry my ID and credit card, phone and lip gloss, so why bother with a big bag? This is the best time of year to support small local businesses, so I was excited when Turek Leather Works, a small leather working shop in rural Illinois, kindly sent me their Coudreau Clutch. It has quickly become my go-to special occasion purse. This clutch is of the utmost highest quality at an affordable price point. Sometimes, I can’t help but run my hand over it because it’s so dang smooth (like buttah!). I love the thick front closure strap that also acts as an easy carry handle, and how pretty is the Rosewood color for fall?

Even though we’re back to the grind with house work, I’m glad that we took the time to sneak away just the two of us for a special fall date night. Plus, this glorious weather won’t last for long so I plan to soak it up this week as much as I can!

How was your weekend? What’s your go-to look for a warmer weather fall date night?
