Monday Catch Up and Confessions

I can’t believe we’re entering into the last week of April. So much for slowing down, 2017! It’s been a little while since I just sat down to write and share some random musings, so let’s play a game of Monday catch up and confessions.

| I’m not too sure what’s going on with me lately, but the self-esteem/body image issues are real in a big way. So much so that I decided to get rid of and/or sell half my wardrobe the last few months. I was either just over everything, something didn’t fit right anymore, or it wasn’t my style. That’s all a-okay until you realize that you got rid of so much that you now where the same five shirts on rotation … I’m working on it. If you missed it last Friday, I shared five recent spring style purchases.

| At any given time, one of these three albums is playing on my phone – The Search for Everything by John Mayer; Between the Pines (Acoustic Mixtape) by Sam Hunt; and The Beauty and the Beast live-action soundtrack. I. Am. Obsessed. It’s hard to get me to listen to anything else right now. (Psst – the first two are available on Amazon Prime Music).

| Ryan and I binge-watched all three seasons of The Great British Baking Show in about a month. Yes, you read that right – Ryan enjoyed a baking show as much (if not more) than me. It’s seriously fascinating. And, I have a big crush now on Paul Hollywood. Weird? Yes. Do I care? No.

| Speaking of shows, I flew through 13 Reasons Why. Except, I still have to watch the last episode. I accidentally saw some spoilers, so I know what’s coming and can’t bring myself to face it. I know that it’s just a show, but from what I’ve heard one of the scenes is pretty graphic. I’m not sure I can handle it.

| Oh, and one more note in entertainment – there might be a Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries MOVIE! I literally cheered and clapped when I saw the announcement on Facebook late last week. Time to re-watch the whole show …

| Who knew that running would become my new go-to stress reliever? I discovered a few weeks ago that I am capable of running nonstop on the treadmill. I haven’t looked back since! It’s my favorite part of the day, and it does wonderful things for me physically and emotionally.

| I really suck at putting together outfits for professional photos. We are doing an in-home shoot at the end of next month, and I just can’t get it together. Since we’ll be at home, I want it to be casual but still put together – you know? So far, I’m thinking of a light blue shirt for Ryan and me in this Gibson sweater (in grey) with jeans. Too simple? Boring? HELP ME!

Aaaaaaand, that’s it for this edition of Monday catch up and confessions. Cheers to a great week ahead!

Watch any good shows lately? Have any treadmill running tips? Are you a stylist that wants to come dress me for our photos next month? Leave me all the things in the comments!

I just got into 13 reasons why so I’m trying to take my time…and somehow have managed to steer clear of any spoilers. I also haven’t heard anything from John Mayer in a while so I’ll have to check his album out!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

    • I was only able to watch one episode at a time of 13 Reasons Why because of the content – it seriously drained my emotions. And, I still haven’t watched the last episode! I just can’t bring myself to do it yet.

  • I’m currently watching Great British Baking Show and I LOVE it. I’m on season 2! The stuff they make is so incredible. I’m with you on that crush on Paul Hollywood. I don’t even care if it’s weird, lol. John Mayer’s new CD is so good, but I need to take a listen to Sam Hunt’s too! xo

    • I’m so glad someone else is watching the show! Season 1’s contestants were definitely my favorite, but there are some good ones in 2 and 3, too. And, hell yes to Paul Hollywood – lol! Loving Sam Hunt’s acoustic album!

  • I love that sweater you’re thinking of wearing! Maybe you could dress it up a bit with some fun earrings? That wouldn’t be too fancy for the just hanging out at home vibe. Can’t wait to see the photos!!

    • Thanks, lady! It’s so incredibly soft and cozy, I just love it. Yes, I’m definitely thinking I’ll just add some jewelry to dress it up a bit. Maybe a fun tassel necklace or something! It will be so fun to get some photos in the house – we did all this work, now I want it captured to remember forever lol.

I admire your honesty, take comfort in knowing that we all feel that way sometimes – all I see is beautiful you! I’m going to have to listen to that new John Mayer, he’s one of my faves! Love the sweater you’ve picked out for your photo shoot, I think it’s perfect! You coukd always dress it up a little with some simple jewelry.

    • Thanks, mom! Obviously, you’re biased, though. 😉 You will LOVE the new John Mayer – it’s so good! And, that’s what I’m thinking with that sweater – just a simple necklace and some earrings maybe.

  • Girl I feel you on the self esteem. I boxed up a tub of items too small but that I can’t convince myself to get rid of, even though I should. Its frustrating, and always a battle to learn to love your body. And I think that gray sweater would be perfect for a shoot like that- I like simple!

    • You are so right – why is it such a battle?! I know I/we shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves and our bodies, but it’s just so hard sometimes. I’m working on it, but obviously I’ve been losing at that game lately. And, thank you for your opinion! Since we’ll be at home, I just want to be comfortable and look like myself, you know?

  • I always go up and down about my body image too. I think it’s a woman thing! Sounds like you have a lot to be proud of though with the running! Having clothes that make you feel good does wonders for me. And the baking show – YES! Been on a major kick lately myself.

    • It’s comforting to know that I’m not alone – I think all of us women go through cycles, like you said! You, my friend, look incredible, though – especially since you’ve had a baby! And, yes to the baking show! We’re so sad that we’ve finished all the seasons.

  • Yes to all of those tunes! The new John Mayer is so good and Beauty and the Beast keeps getting stuck in my head!

  • Christina Sotherden

You look so cute in that photo!! I have got to check out this 13 Reasons Why – people are loving it!

    • Awe, thanks girl! 13 Reasons Why is really good, but not exactly uplifting by any means. Just fair warning!

  • SO wishing I could run like that?! I hope on a treadmill and after two minutes I’m like uhhh can we not do this anymore?!

    • Lol! I used to be the same way, and this is still a recent development for me so who knows if I’ll change my mind. I find that music motivates me the most to just keep going!

  • Love all your real talk! I went through my wardrobe and did a major clean out at the start of the year. Now that it’s spring, I’ve realized I got rid of most of my warm weather clothing, so I’ve been a little lost on these warm spring days. Oops! 🙂

    • Haha, I hear ya! My closet is the exact same way right now. Back at the beginning of March, I maybe had three or four shirts on rotation.

  • I still need to watch 13 Reasons Why, and need to set aside a Sunday afternoon to binge watch. Can’t wait to see what you choose for the in home shoot, I say go with what you’re most comfortable in which will really shine in the pictures <3

    • 13 Reasons Why is SO good, but I still have yet to watch the last episode. I’m legit nervous to watch it, lol. Thanks, girl – since we’ll be at home, I just want to look comfortable and natural!

  • Emily Dunham

That’s awesome you are loving the treadmill! I have been getting back to running and the past week was finally able to get a mile on there. You have to share your tips on how you keep going!

  • That is also why I got into running! It’s such a stress reliever and it’s my ‘me’ time to just meditate and listen to jams. I think great running jams are key to the motivation factor! I always struggle with family photos wardrobes… I never want to be too flashy or too boring. I try to stick to a basic color palate of no more than 3 colors (maybe 4 if they are neutrals). No more than one patterned piece (I love a plaid, checkered shirt on boys!). That’s the best advice I’ve got there!

    • I’m with you that good music is such a good motivator on the treadmill – it just keeps me pushing through! Thanks for your advice with outfits – I’m actually thinking of having Ryan wear a blue/white checked shirt to bring in a little color and pattern. Since we’re doing pictures in our house, I want our outfits to go with the color scheme so I think that’s why I’m psyching myself out!

  • I know how you feel! I swear that my closet is pretty much filled to the brim and sometimes I look in there and I’m like, yep no way I want to wear any of these because I know that they won’t look right. I need to watch 13 Reasons Why soon, but since I know that it’s a book, it’s making me want to read it before I start the series. I feel the same way about The Handmaid’s Tale which is a Hulu show. So much stuff on Netflix and so little time!

    • I have 13 Reasons Why on hold at the library! I debated waiting to watch the series until I could read the book, but I heard there’s quite a few differences so hopefully it doesn’t detract from either. I’ve been so intrigued by The Handmaid’s Tale!

  • Ummm….who are you that you can run non-stop on a treadmill? Even thinking about it gives me an asthma attack, haha. And I feel terrible, but I totally gave up on 13 Reason’s Why…I couldn’t get into it, so you’ll have to tell me what happened at the end 😉 xx

    • Haha, you crack me up! I’m doing my best – it’s definitely still a new thing, so check in with me in a month and see if I’m still at it. 😉

  • Sending you some body positive vibes, girlfriend- I’ve definitely been there! It can be a struggle and you aren’t really sure what to do- so glad to hear that the treadmill seems to be helping alleviate some stress! 🙂

  • Yesss GBBS is the best! I got both of my parents (who would never dream of watching any kind of reality TV) hooked on it too. I’m sure your photos will turn out awesome- you always put together amazing outfits!

    • I appreciate that! I think because we will be at home is why I’m struggling with figuring out the outfits.

  • Cassie Schelldorf

How do you feel about getting rid of your wardrobe? I got rid of half of my wardrobe once and while I panicked (literally, half the walk in was gone) I felt amazing after! I am a huge accessory person (because I own a lot of solids so I can mix and match) and that really helps change up my look. I love a good statement necklace. Also, I love your choice of sweater for your photoshoot! I also really like the black sweater w the ruffles on the shoulder – that would look nice too 🙂 Good luck! Can’t wait to see the photos. PS. I’ve been watching “Liv and Maddie” (yes the Disney show – silly but really cute) and Shameless (I KNOW – totally different!) on Netflix recently.

    • Shameless has been on my list forever, so thanks for the recommendation! I don’t miss anything from my closet that I got rid of, so I guess that’s a good sign lol.

  • YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY running and YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Miss Fisher’s movie!! fingers and toes and everything else crossed. i want to rewatch it again but every time I do, i basically stop living my life including reading and being social, so i really shouldn’t any time soon lol.

    • Right?! Hahahaha I feel the exact same way. Although, Ryan got a new TV for his birthday, so we moved the one that was in our family room into our bedroom. We’ve never had a TV in our bedroom before, so we decided to only use it for Netflix and not get another cable box. Still a bad decision because now in the mornings I just want to lay in bed and watch Miss Fisher’s until I’m forced to get up lol.
