Catching Up and Confessions

Hey, hey! Does this thing still work? 😉 We had a great extended vacation last week! Nothing better than a little time to relax and recharge in the midst of the summer craziness. I’m still getting back into the swing of things, so today I’m bringing you a little installment of catching up and confessions.

| Did you catch the news that Target is retiring Merona and Mossimo brands? I have mixed feelings about this. I’m a big fan of the Merona clothing, so I hope the new brand lives up to the hype.

| Our in-home family photo session was nearly a month ago, and I still haven’t ordered prints to update frames. I’d like to say it’s because I’m having trouble picking favorites, but mostly it’s because I’m lazy.

| I think that I need to go to a support group for sunglasses addicts. I have four pairs on rotation, and then last week I added this pair and this pair to the mix. Damn you, American Eagle for your BOGO 50% sale.

| Anybody else feeling the struggle with blogging this summer? Unless I’m ahead on posts, I just can’t find the motivation to sit down and be creative. The sunshine and warm weather is calling my name.

| It’s possible that I live under a rock, but I recently discovered that The Wet Brush brand also has a wide-tooth comb. This thing is incredible for wet hair that tangles into something resembling a bird’s nest.

| I never thought the day would come when I would have to ban myself from the library. Seriously – isn’t that a parent’s dream to have their kid go to the library all the time?! I have so many e-books and hard copies that I own that I need to get through first, though before I add more to the mix. Let’s see how long I make it. (Psst – I have a new recent reads post coming tomorrow! You can see past book reviews here.)

| Not that I want summer to be over anytime soon, but I also would like the next few months to hurry up so we can be on the beach in Florida. A change of scenery is much-needed right about now.

| Who else has been on a temporary shopping ban in preparation for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale next week?! Minus a few indulgences here and there – ahem, the sunnies – I’ve been saving my pennies to update a few pieces in my wardrobe for fall. I got the credit card halfway through the sale last year, so I’m looking forward to being able to shop everything early!

That’s all from my side of catching up and confessions! How’s your summer going? Did you have a good holiday break? Leave me all the things in the comments!

  • This summer has been tough with blogging! I agree, it’s hard to sit down in front of a computer when the sun is shining outside. I love those sunnies and you’re making me want to buy a pair (or 2)! I am so excited for the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this year! Like I feel like it’s a count down to Christmas…what’s wrong with me? lol

    • Haha, you’re definitely not the only one who feels that way! I love/hate the sale because I’m not exactly ready to shop for fall, but then when I do it now I don’t have to do more shopping when fall actually comes around. I’m loving those sunnies from AE!

  • I heard about the Target discontinuation and I’m like you, not sure how I feel about it. I guess we’ll see! And I’ve totally been having trouble staying on top of blogging this summer. If I don’t write ahead of time it tends to fall of my radar. Nothing wrong with living in the moment though, right?! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

    • Yes, girl! I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been trying to stay ahead as much as I can, but if it doesn’t happen, it just doesn’t. And, that’s a-okay! xo

  • Biana Perez

Cant wait to hear about the books you’ve read – I feel like everyone is reading from the library and I can’t get my books 🙁 xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

    • Oh no! Because they’re on hold or your library doesn’t have them? That’s the worst when that happens!

  • Yessssss this sale! I have my imaginary cart ready to go and I 100% feel you about the Summer blogging creativity. It is is so hard to motivate for sure.

  • Debra Stachelski

I think it’s ok to be a little laid back and lazy over the summer! My summer is turning out to be a little busier than usual, as you know. Hopefully I can make some time for reading some of those books you’re recommending! Glad you and Ryan had a good vacation!

  • I have to admit that I’m just glad that I’m not the only one that is behind on getting new prints printed to replace photos all over the house! I have to admit that I loved getting to pick out pictures for our gallery wall this weekend, but I know that in a few short months we’ll have to update all over again for baby pictures, and I just don’t know how it’s going to happen! And I feel like I’ve finally figured out how amazing the library is! I have a few books checked out right now, and it definitely gets me reading more because I know that they have to go back sooner rather than later! And yes to not feeling very motivated to blog this summer! I feel like I’m so far behind in travel posts, and the only posts that I’ve been writing lately have been weekend posts.

    • Yay for the library! It’s seriously the best and such a cost-saver. I’m the same way that I make sure to read any books I have checked out first – it’s a motivator to keep going! I think we’re all feeling that way about blogging these days, but it is summer after all! Nothing wrong with living life in the present.

  • I also can’t wait for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I’m looking forward to getting some new coats for fall 🙂

I was so sad to hear about the Target retire – I love both of those brands (always mix them up, haha!) and hope the new ones are just as good! I can’t believe it’s already time in the season for the Nordstrom sale.

    • I know, it seems like the Nordstrom sale kind of came out of nowhere this year. I’m not quite ready for shop for fall yet, but I’m sure I will be along with the rest of the planet!

  • I was sad about the Target news too. I also have a sunglasses problem. Do. Not. Need. Any. More.

    • I’m glad it’s not just me! Ryan informed me that if I come home with one more pair that he’s changing the locks, ha!

  • Stacy

It took me almost 7 months to order prints of our engagement pictures! So I feel ya!
I don’t blog, but regular work has been just as hard for me!
Swimsuits and the beach = 🙂
Paperwork and the office = 🙁

I had no idea Mossimo and Merona were being retired! That seems crazy, but I’m excited to see what Target has in store. Did you hear about their new workout line?! Super pumped for that!

    • Right?! It does seem crazy, but hopefully they have something only better in store. And, yes to the new workout line! I’m looking forward to that, too.

  • I have mixed feelings about the Target announcement as well, but trust that they have a great plan for how to replace it. As long as the new line releases great dupes that are of good quality too I’ll be happy <3

  • I didn’t know that about Target! I’m kind of surprised! Also, feel you on all the books. I also reread a lot, and get stuck on the same series. The idea of the Florida sun sounds so nice, hopefully that trip will come up quickly!

    • Right? I hope Target doesn’t let us down. I’m so excited for the beach in a few months, it can’t come soon enough!
