Like most people at the start of the year, I like to clean out and purge old or unused beauty products to get rid of clutter and make way for new items. With some extra Christmas money and gift cards still in my possession, I seized some shopping opportunities in January to pick up a few things that I’ve recently had my eye on.
Above all else, I needed to find a few new skincare items to help battle the dry, winter air. This dead sea mask is a best seller on Amazon, so I figured it couldn’t hurt to try. I also switched to a heavier moisturizer, and so far, so good!
NYX Cosmetics is one of my all-time favorite brands, and since I’ve heard rave reviews about the powder contour palette, I picked that up during a trip to Ulta and later also ordered the new cream highlight and contour palette. I haven’t had the opportunity to fully dive into these products yet, but I’m hoping they will help up my contour game. The primer spray also seemed like a no-brainer to me since I already use whatever setting spray I have around as a foundation primer – I don’t think it does anything extra special that a regular setting spray doesn’t already do for makeup application, but I will use it until I run out.
Word on the street is that this new drugstore eyebrow pencil is an exact dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz – verdict is still out, and I’ll be sure to report back. A new powder brushwas a necessity since my current one would shed all over my face after every use. I also was lucky enough to receive this blush from Sigma Beauty (use code SIGMA2016 for 10% off your order!) and the new Marc Jacobs mascara from Influnester to test out – both have become staples in my current beauty routine! The blush is a close dupe to my favorite Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes, and the mascara works well as a second coat to achieve full, voluminous lashes.
With all the new product launches that are happening, I’m excited to restock and revamp my beauty collection in the coming months!
