The Quest for My Perfect Pair of Jeans

Is there anyone out there that truly enjoys shopping for jeans? Anyone? Bueller? The quest for my perfect pair of jeans has been at the forefront of my recent shopping trips.

The Quest for My Perfect Pair of Jeans
You see, my issue with jeans these days is that they aren’t true denim. Everything now seems to be a jegging or have a ridiculous amount of stretch. While that’s fine and dandy for some, it’s a pain for someone like me that fluctuates between sizes (I’m usually between a four and six). So, I might try on a bigger size that fits great, but within an hour the jeans stretch so much that I’m constantly pulling up my waistband. Or, if I put on a smaller size, I feel like a stuffed sausage until the jeans stretch. The thing is that I have relatively slender calves and a defined waist, but I also have slightly thicker thighs and hips, too. So, that can make it a challenge to find jeans that don’t gap at the waistline or bunch around my lower leg.

These are tough times that we’re living in people. 😉

Anyways, the whole point of this post is to share a few brands and styles of jeans that seem to work okay if you’re in the same boat as me. I typically stick with skinny jeans, so that’s what most of these styles are.

| For many years now, I’ve sworn by Old Navy Rockstar jeans. While they have stretch, it isn’t over the top. They even have a built-in sculpt style now that helps suck everything in. I still prefer the classic fit, and I do size down to a 4 to accommodate the stretch (because they will stretch, trust me).

| I recently tried on a pair of Gap jeans, and they seemed to fit well. My only gripe is that the mid-rise seemed to fit more like a low-rise, which is a no-go for me. But, it could’ve just been the style that I had on. I’d be willing to try another pair and see how it goes.

| Surprisingly enough, my favorite pair of boyfriend jeans is from the Jennifer Lopez line at Kohl’s. These are what true denim should feel like, no give or stretch. They do run big – I actually own these in a 4, but by the end of the day I’m swimming in them.

| I just ordered my first pair of Articles of Society skinny jeans from Nordstrom. Apparently they are great for women with curvier thighs. Has anyone else tried these and had luck?

Of course, I know several people and bloggers swear by Madewell and slightly-more expensive denim. While good denim definitely is an investment, budgeting is real around here so I just can’t get myself to spend that kind of money. If you know of more affordable brands that fit the same as expensive brands, send that info my way!

Do you struggle with finding jeans? What are your favorite denim brands?
